Brydon Carse gets major relief in Derby nightclub case as victim drops complaint

England fast bowler Brydon Carse will not face any charges for his nightclub incident after the Derbyshire police decided to drop their investigation. Carse was reportedly involved in an incident while celebrating Durham’s win over Derbyshire in the County Championship on August 22.

He was briefly arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly outside a bar in Derby. A video of Carse in handcuffs being surrounded by police officers went viral, and he was later released.

The 31-year-old was subsequently dropped from England's Test squad for the last two Tests with Pakistan as Derbyshire Police began its investigation into allegations of assault. Later, Carse was also not picked for the T20I and ODI squads for the ongoing series against Sri Lanka.

However, the cricketer has got a major relief in his case as during the investigation, it was found out that the alleged victim didn’t want to make any complaint, so no further action was taken. The Derbyshire police also released a statement on the investigation, informing the public that it has been closed.

"An investigation into reports of an assault in Derby city centre has been closed. Officers attended Molly Malones in the Wardwick, Derby, in the early hours of Sunday, 23 August. A man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly and was then de-arrested after his details were taken by officers,” the statement said.

Carse to undergo investigation from Cricket Regulator

Carse will now be subject to an investigation from the Cricket Regulator. He had been playing for Durham while the police investigation was on, but didn’t feature in the 13^th round match against Worcestershire, being unwell.

 Following his non-selection for the Sri Lanka white-ball series, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) also said that Carse will have to work on his issues to be brought back into the team. White-ball head coach Brendon McCullum also retired the same.
