Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have roped in Karnataka's emerging allrounder Macneil Noronha as the injury replacement for Ramakrishna Ghosh. Noronha joins the five-time IPL winners for his base price of INR 30 lakh.

The 24-year-old spin-bowling allrounder accumulated 253 runs in 10 innings and also claimed 10 wickets to play a monumental role in guiding Mangaluru Dragons to the Maharaja Trophy in 2025. He has played just three T20s for Karnataka, all of which came during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, as he claimed a solitary wicket and scored 58 runs.

Noronha, 24, was honoured with the MA Chidambaram Trophy at the BCCI's annual awards ceremony, Naman Awards, for aggregating the most runs at the 2024-25 Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy. Noronha had amassed 1037 runs in 14 innings at an astounding average of 79.77, and a strike rate of 76.36, including three hundreds and two fifties. He had smashed 84 fours and 54 sixes during the course of the tournament.

For the unversed, Ghosh suffered a foot fracture during Round 2 of the El Clásico between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians on May 2. He played a key role in CSK's eight-wicket win as he registered figures of 1/24 in three overs, claiming the big wicket of Suryakumar Yadav and also taking a fine catch to dismiss Will Jacks.

CSK's IPL 2026 Playoff Qualification

The five-time IPL winners have aggregated 12 points in 11 games with six wins and five losses. They need to win all three of their remaining games to ensure a seamless playoff berth, as that will take their tally to 18 points.

However, a win and two losses may also be enough, if a host of other results fall in their favour.
