IPL 2026: Chennai Super Kings' Ramakrishna Ghosh ruled out with foot fracture

Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) bowling all-rounder Ramakrishna Ghosh has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) due to a fractured right foot. Ghosh sustained the injury during his debut game against Mumbai Indians (MI) at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The 28-year-old made a valuable contribution in his team’s eight-wicket victory as he first took a stunning diving catch at the point boundary to dismiss MI opener Will Jacks. With the ball, he registered figures of 1/24 in three overs, dismissing Suryakumar Yadav.

“Ramakrishna Ghosh sustained a fracture to his right foot during the team’s win over Mumbai Indians on May 2 in Chennai. He will take no further part in IPL 2026. The right arm pacer picked up a wicket and also took a brilliant catch to dismiss Will Jacks against the Mumbai Indians. Chennai Super Kings wishes him a speedy recovery,” informed CSK in a media release.

Courtesy of Ghosh's efforts, CSK restricted MI to a low score of 159/7 in their allotted 20 overs. The right-arm seamer was bought by CSK during the IPL 2025 auction for his base price of Rs 30 Lakh. However, he didn’t get a game during the entire season and finally made his debut against Mumbai Indians in the previous fixture.

CSK rise to sixth spot on points table

Ghosh has become the third fast bowler and fourth player overall to be ruled out of the IPL for CSK after Nathan Ellis, Ayush Mhatre and Khaleel Ahmed. The franchise is yet to name his replacement.

Meanwhile, following their win against MI, CSK have risen to sixth spot on the IPL 2026 points table with four wins from nine matches, having eight points to their name. They will next take on Delhi Capitals (DC) on Tuesday, May 5 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
