Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have lodged a formal complaint with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after they felt offended over the choice of songs played by the DJ during their away game with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 5.

CSK allege that playing tracks like 'Dosa, idli, sambar, chutney, chutney', which is used to mock South Indian stereotypes, was offensive and insulting and should have been avoided.

"The DJs are usually around to support the home team. But at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, it was different. Certain comments were made against our players. Considering it, we have written to the BCCI to have a look into it," CSK managing director Kasi Viswanathan told The Indian Express in an interaction.

Viswanathan also alleged that the DJ passed disrespectful remarks over the public address system after the dismissal of some of the CSK players, which was also distasteful.

"After that incident, there hasn’t been any repeat of it. The DJ isn’t supposed to make any comment on the opposition players. Moreover, we are fortunate to have a lovely fanbase that cheers us in numbers. They are not there to undermine the rivals or insult them," Viswanathan added.

RCB won the game by 43 runs after they were put into bat by the CSK captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad. RCB posted a humongous 250-run total on the board for the loss of just three wickets, with Tim David scoring an unbeaten 25-ball 70 at a strike rate of 280. David's innings was laced with eight boundaries and three sixes as he consolidated on the foundation laid down by Phil Salt, Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar.

The five-time IPL winners fought valiantly, largely due to a 25-ball 50 by Sarfaraz Khan, but could only muster 207 before getting bundled out in 19.4 overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the pick of the RCB bowlers as he returned figures of 3/41.
