Tammy Beaumont and Heather Knight’s farewell game for England became even more special on the final day of the Lord’s Test. In a gesture that transcended rivalry, Indian players invited the two England legends into their dressing room to thank them for their extraordinary service to women’s cricket.
The Women in Blue presented Beaumont and Knight with signed jerseys, a symbolic memento to celebrate their international careers. Adding to the poignancy, India’s middle‑order batter Jemimah Rodrigues delivered a heartfelt speech on behalf of the team.
“So, on behalf of the Indian team, Tammy [Beaumont] and Heather [Knight] we just want to thank you for all that you’ve done for women’s cricket,” said Rodrigues in a video shared by the BCCI on social media. “It’s not easy, the amount of effort, hard work, sacrifices, tears, but just to still come out there and do what you did for the country. You have inspired a lot more people than you realise. You know cricket is all about making memories and we as the Indian team just wanted to leave you all with a small memory on your last match for England. Congratulations and all the best for everything.”

The moment was raw, emotional, and overwhelming for all those involved. Beaumont and Knight, embraced warmly by their Indian counterparts, were visibly moved as they received not just jerseys but genuine gratitude for their decades of dedication. Both England retirees have achieved some of the greatest things which the sport can offer and walk away with their heads held high.
Knight is the most capped England cricketer and was the first to score centuries in all three formats of the game. She famously led England to the ICC Women's ODI World Cup title in 2017. Meanwhile, Beaumont was the Player of the Tournament at the 2017 World Cup and walks into the sunset as England's leading centurion in ODI cricket with 12 hundreds.
