India fast bowler Harshit Rana and spinner Varun Chakravarthy have been ruled out of the last two matches of the T20I series against England due to injuries. Both players sustained hamstring injuries while playing in the third T20I at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, where India lost by 125 runs.

After undergoing assessment by the BCCI medical staff, both players have now been ruled out for the rest of the series. In their place, India brought in Washington Sundar and Prasidh Krishna in their playing XI for the fourth T20I at County Ground, Bristol, as captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to bat first.

β€œHarshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy sustained hamstring injuries in the third T20I against England at Trent Bridge. The BCCI Medical Team has assessed them and ruled them out of the 4th and 5th T20Is,” informed BCCI in a post on their X account.

Harshit recently made a comeback to the team after undergoing knee surgery and played both T20Is against Ireland and all three matches of the ongoing series against England, where he has picked up three wickets.

India trailing by 0-2 in series

On the other hand, Chakravarthy wasn’t in the best of form in the ongoing series, having registered figures of 1/37 in the second T20I and 0/35 (3 overs) in the third match.

Meanwhile, India have their back against the wall, trailing 0-2 in the series so far. They desperately need to win the fourth T20I to stay alive in the series.
