Former CSK player Vansh Bedi denies spot-fixing allegations

Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player Vansh Bedi has commented on his spot-fixing allegations in the aftermath of several reports claiming levelling serious charges against the cricketer. His statement comes in the aftermath of an investigation by Tehelka, where former Ranji Player Rachit Bhatia claimed that he could provide inside information about a DPL match, two hours before the official toss, for betting purposes in exchange for money.

Bhatia alleged that a 23-year-old player, who plays for Delhi, provided classified information about both Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Central Delhi Kings in the Delhi Premier League 2026 (DPL 2026). All the information provided by Bhatia was pointing towards Bedi, who has been a part of both the teams.

However, the youngster has denied his involvement in any corrupt activity and warned websites and social media handles against publishing defamatory content.

“I would like to clarify certain false and defamatory content circulating on social media and websites concerning me. I categorically state that I am not the individual referred to by Ex-Ranji Trophy cricketer Rachit Bhatia in the Tehelka sting operation concerning alleged match-fixing involving a CSK player, nor do I have any involvement whatsoever in any such activity," he wrote in an Instagram post.

He also mentioned that his legal team is taking criminal action against those maligning his public image.

"Any attempt to falsely link me with these allegations is highly defamatory. My legal team is taking appropriate civil and criminal action against those responsible. I request everyone to refrain from creating or sharing such false and defamatory content," he added.

Bedi was picked by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL auction ahead of the 2025 season. However, he didn’t play a single game for the franchise and was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury.  He was released after the season and remained unsold at the 2026 auction.

According to a report in Cricbuzz, Vansh Bedi was approached by a player from Uttar Pradesh, and he immediately reported it to the BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit. Both DDCA and CSK have launched an investigation into the matter.
