The International Cricket Council (ICC) has granted a USD 12.82 million loan to Cricket West Indies for the welfare of the game in the Caribbean. The decision was announced after the conclusion of the ICC's Annual General Meeting in Edinburgh.

Cricket West Indies former CEO Johnny Grave and the former Windies captain and two-time World Cup winner Sir Clive Lloyd have previously called for the ICC to revamp its global revenue distribution model to eradicate the issue of financial inequality among member nations.

Additionally, the ICC has also urged Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to hold elections "as soon as possible". While the apex governing body "noted" the steps being taken by the Transformation Committee appointed to draft a new constitution for Sri Lanka Cricket, it asserted that the SLC "would continue to be unable to be represented at ICC Board meetings for the time being." Former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara is one of the nine members of the Transformation Committee.

The ICC has outlined specific “Reinstatement Conditions” for Cricket Canada, detailing the criteria that must be met for its suspension to be lifted and for the board to regain full ICC membership. Until those conditions are satisfied, Cricket Canada will remain suspended from international cricket’s governing body. France Cricket has also been put on notice "for breaches of the ICC Membership Criteria".

The global governing body of the game has also acknowledged the appointment of Tamim Iqbal as the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). For the unversed, Iqbal was the only candidate and was elected following the elections held in Dhaka on June 7.

Mauritius has also been green-flagged as the 111th member of the ICC. It marks a significant step in the global expansion of the sport.

The ICC has also set up two new sub-committees: a Governance Review Committee and a Franchise Leagues Committee. The incumbent BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia will chair the Governance Review Committee, and it also comprises Mohammed Moosajee (Cricket South Africa) and Dr Ros Rivaz (ICC Independent Director).

Meanwhile, Iqbal has been named the chair of the Franchise Leagues Committee with Dr Rudie van Vuuren (Cricket Namibia), Devajit Saikia (BCCI), Richard Gould (England and Wales Cricket Board) and Todd Greenberg (Cricket Australia) as its other members.
