The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued a show-cause notice to Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) team manager Romi Bhinder for using a mobile phone during the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) Match 16 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Guwahati. Bhinder was seen using a mobile phone while sitting in the RR dugout during the second innings of the match, and the clip instantly went viral on social media, prompting swift action from the board.
According to Cricbuzz, BCCI's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) has issued a notice to Bhinder, seeking a response within 48 hours. As per the rules, team managers are allowed to use a handset but only within the dressing room. However, since Bhinder was seen using it in the dugout, it could attract sanctions.

According to the guidelines, each team manager shall be permitted to carry a Mobile Device within the PMOA (Players and Match officials area), provided that it is used either: (a) by him/her for cricket operations purposes only; and/or (b) by any Player or Player Support Personnel for any important personal matter, provided that the team manager has given his express permission to the Player or Player Support Personnel before such use.
RR on top of points table
It remains to be seen what action BCCI takes against Romi Bhinder and Rajasthan Royals after they’re found guilty of not following the protocols. Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) have got off to a good start to their campaign, having won all four of their fixtures so far. They’re placed at the top of the points table with eight points from four matches.
