Australia batter Josh Inglis has joined Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) squad ahead of their next game of the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) on May 4. Inglis missed the first half of the tournament due to his wedding and will be immediately available for selection.

The wicketkeeper-batter had informed franchises about his limited availability for IPL 2026 before the auction and was subsequently released by Punjab Kings (PBKS), despite having a good previous season.

At the auction, Inglis was bought for Rs 8.6 crore by LSG after triggering a bidding war. He recently got married on April 18 in Margaret River, Western Australia and has arrived in India, having already begun training with the LSG squad.

Inglis could be straight away slotted in the LSG’s playing XII with their batters struggling for form, especially the overseas ones. Star batter Nicholas Pooran is only averaging 10.25 in the ongoing season, having scored 82 runs from eight innings with a highest score of 22. On the other hand, openers Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh have also failed to replicate their performances from the last season.

LSG to face Mumbai Indians on May 4

Meanwhile, Matthew Breetzke has left the LSG squad and flown back home to South Africa. He left the team ahead of their last fixture against Kolkata Knight  Riders (KKR) on April 24. According to ESPNCricinfo, Breetzke returned home due to the death of a close family member on his wife's side. His return to the tournament is still unknown.

LSG will next take on Mumbai Indians (MI) on Monday, May 4 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Both teams are reeling at the bottom two spots of the IPL 2026 points table with just two wins from eight matches. They both will look to avoid the last position with a victory in the upcoming fixture.
