Gujarat Titans (GT) registered their second win in the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026), beating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 7 wickets on Sunday, April 12 at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. After being put in to bat first, Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) batters had a disappointing show as they struggled their way to post 164/8 in their allotted 20 overs.
In reply, Gujarat chased down the target in 18.4 overs, courtesy of half-centuries from Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler.

After the early blows, none of Lucknow’s batters could get their eye in as Prasidh Krishna ran through their lineup, registering his best bowling figures in IPL. He also got good support from Ashok Sharma (2/32) as Lucknow were restricted to 164/8 in their 20 overs.
In the second innings, Gujarat lost Sai Sudharsan (15 of 14) cheaply, but captain Shubman Gill (56 off 40) and Jos Buttler got involved in a massive 84-run stand off 58 balls for the second wicket, to bring their team into a commanding position.
However, there were still some hiccups in the chase following their dismissals, but the experience of Washington Sundar (21* off 13) and Rahul Tewatia (10* off 8) took Gujarat over the line.
Meanwhile, following their win, Gujarat rose to fifth spot on the points table with two wins from four matches, having four points to their name. On the other hand, LSG slipped to sixth spot due to a poor net run rate, having two points from four games as well.

What did the captains say:
Winning Captain, Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans):
Yes, for sure. I mean, the way we bowled in the powerplay was very impressive. And I think how we kept the pressure in the middle overs was also tremendous by the bowlers. Makes my life very easy, you know. The way I think he's bowling at the moment, Rashid, getting us back in the game every time, you know, another bowler is under pressure. So makes my life very easy. Gets the wicket, gets the dot balls, and it's very hard to hit him. I think in the first six overs, it's all about, it's very difficult to do the simple things because you might sometimes get much ahead in the game. So it's important to come back and realize, you know, what are the simple things that I need to do right now in the moment. And I think in this match, he did that really well. The first over that he bowled was spot on. And then in the third over, how he kept his length and did the simple things and that got us back in the game, how Siraj bowled and even, I think, how KG went for a few runs. But I think he was spot on with his length. He was a little bit unlucky. Few played on and a few good shots, but that happens in a T20 game. Yeah, it wasn't easy. You know, in the last, I think, two or three overs, we went for a little bit more, especially in the back end of the innings. I felt we gave like 10 runs extra how where we were in the game with them six or seven down. But definitely we would have taken at the start of the innings, we would have taken 160 on this wicket. (Asked about Gill's batting) Yeah, definitely very happy, you know, back-to-back 50s for me and Jos for both of us. So definitely looking in good touch.
Losing Captain, Rishabh Pant (Lucknow Super Giants):
See, definitely not enough runs. There's nothing. from the fact that they bowled well. I think in a wicket like this, a score like 170 to 180 is a really good score. But, you know, the wicket kept on falling and they put enough pressure on us to get those wickets going. See, definitely in a wicket like this, like I said, 170 to 180 is a good score. But at the same time, you know, you still have opportunities. I wouldn't say I'm a hard guy. So there were opportunities in the game. We just couldn't grab it enough. (Talks about the batting line-up) See, definitely it's a great lineup. But the tournament has just started here, you know. We're not putting pressure on players because especially the senior guys, they know what to do. Yeah, there are times when you perform and you just couldn't. But at the same time, you know, the trust and belief in the camp is enough. And we know he's going to come soon enough. It's always positive.
