Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) players were seen wearing black armbands during Match 20 of the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) on Sunday, April 12 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. At the toss, the coin fell in Mumbai Indians’ favour, and captain Hardik Pandya opted to bowl first.
As the players walked out to the middle for the match to begin, they were seen sporting black armbands as many fans began wondering the reason behind the move. It was later revealed that they were paying tribute to the legendary singer Asha Bhosle, who died on Sunday at the age of 92.

A minute of silence was also observed ahead of the match as players and fans paid their respect to the evergreen voice of Asha Bhosle.

RCB post 240 batting first
Coming back to the match, captain Pandya was left regretting his decision to invite RCB to bat first, as they posted a massive score of 240/4 in their allotted 20 overs. They got off to a sensational start as openers Philip Salt and Virat Kohli got involved in a massive 120-run stand off 65 balls.
Salt was at his destructive best, scoring a breathtaking 78 (36), smashing six fours and as many sixes in his innings. He was well supported by Virat Kohli, who also scored a half-century (50 off 38). Captain Rajat Patidar also contributed with a belligerent innings of 53 (20) with the help of four fours and five sixes in his innings.
On the other hand, Tim David also scored 34 off just 16 balls, clobbering two fours and three sixes to give a perfect finish to the innings.
