Punjab Kings (PBKS) continued their unbeaten run in the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026), beating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 54 runs in Match 29 on Sunday, April 19 at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, New Chandigarh.
After being put in to bat first, PBKS posted a humongous score of 254/7 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, LSG were restricted to 200/5 and were always behind the eight ball in their run chase.

Earlier in the day, Punjab were rocked early as Mohammed Shami found the outside edge of in-form Prabhsimran Singh, getting him caught in the slip. However, Cooper Conolly (87 off 46) walked in at number three and forged a monumental 182-run stand off just 80 balls for the second wicket with Priyansh Arya to bring Punjab in the driver’s seat.
Following their dismissals, contributions from Marcus Stoinis (29 off 16), Nehal Wadhera (13 off 7) and Shashank Singh (17 off 6), guided PBKS to a massive 254/7. In reply, LSG got off to a good start with Mitchell Marsh (40 off 28) and Ayush Badoni (35 off 21) adding 61 runs for the first wicket off 36 balls.
LSG continued to try hard but could never keep up with the required run rate as captain Rishabh Pant (43 off 23) and Aiden Markram (42 off 22) also made valuable contributions.

Player of the Match
Priyansh Arya was adjudged Player of the Match for his breathtaking innings. He slammed four fours and nine sixes during his knock to bring his team in the driver's seat.
Turning Point
Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly got involved in a massive 182-run stand off just 80 deliveries. The duo played fearless cricket and laid the foundation for their team to post a monumental score, which eventually became too much for LSG. Hence, their stand proved to be the turning point of the match.
What did the captains say:
Winning Captain, Shreyas Iyer (Punjab Kings):
It was exceptional, some of the shots were jaw dropping. It takes a lot of courage and composure. I was just talking to Cooper and Priyansh, we were challenging as to who will hit the most sixes for the season, they are up for it. When you just let them be, go out and express themselves, they deliver, I don't tell them how to go about their innings. They have their own set of routine and processess, Ricky talks before the game and I chip in, that's it. Majority of the bowlers in our team are international level, you can see how they are doing internationaly. It was all about execution, I don't have to much, you can see how they are bowling. I feel that whenever we come and see the wicket, it gives us a lot of satisfication.
Losing Captain, Rishabh Pant (Lucknow Super Giants):
(How is your left elbow?) I think the left hand is getting better, but I got a new tattoo (injury on the right hand) today, so I think something to look forward for me again (smiles). (Where did it go wrong today?)See, it's difficult to point out one area because, bowlers have been putting up a nice show, but at the same time, there are areas of concern. But there were some positives for us also to work around. There was some glimpse of batting, what we talked about. Definitely look to take some positives, but at the same time, as a team, we're going to do well each and every match. (Thinking behind send Ayush Badoni as the opener) I think the idea was to just go out there and play freely. It wasn't taken just today. It was pre-decided that he's going to open. It was just something we kept inside. We wanted some freedom on the top order and just (the) middle order wanted to chip in. (You got the players to turn it around) Definitely, we believe in this team for sure. But at the same time when the opposition is playing well, like Punjab is playing now, you've got to give credit to them for playing good hard cricket also. (All the best as you try to sort out this puzzle) Thank you boss. We'll keep (it) positive.
