Rajasthan Royals (RR) continued their victory run in the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) as they hammered Mumbai Indians (MI) by 27 runs in Match 13 on Tuesday, April 7 at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. After being put in to bat first, Rajasthan posted a massive score of 150/3 in the rain-curtailed 11-over fixture.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (39 off 14) and Yashasvi Jaiswal came out all guns blazing and paved the way for their team to post a monumental score. In reply, MI were restricted to 123/9 in their 11 overs as they succumbed to scoreboard pressure and Rajasthan's bowlers' relentless intensity.

Earlier in the day, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi got their team off to a terrific start, adding 80 runs for the first wicket off just 30 balls. Sooryavanshi was at his belligerent best as he took on Jasprit Bumrah, smashing him for a maximum on his very first delivery. He further launched him again into the stands later in the over, putting on a spectacle for the capacity crowd.
On the other hand, Jaiswal continued his rich form and brought up his half-century off 23 deliveries. Captain Riyan Parag (20 off 10) also made a valuable contribution while Jaiswal batted till the end to take his team’s score past 150.
In reply, Mumbai’s chase never got going as they lost Ryan Rickelton (8 off 4), Suryakumar Yadav (6 off 3), and Rohit Sharma (5 off 6) returned to the pavilion in the first three overs and were reduced to 22/3. Jofra Archer (1/17, 2 overs), Sandeep Sharma (2/26, 3 overs) and Nandre Burder all complemented each other to break the back of MI's strong batting line-up.
Later, Ravi Bishnoi (2/25, 2 overs) got big scalps of Hardik Pandya (9 off 6) and Tilak Varma (14 off 10) in his first over, leaving MI reeling at 46/5 after five overs. Naman Dhir (25 off 13) and Sherfane Rutherford (25 off 8) tried their best to keep MI in the game with their 47-run stand off 17 balls.
However, it was too big a mountain left to be climbed for Mumbai, and they eventually fell short of their target. It was the 16th loss for MI away from home out of 25 matches since IPL 2023. They have a win percentage of 36% over the last three seasons in away fixtures, which is the worst among all ten teams.
Meanwhile, following their comfortable victory, Rajasthan climbed to the top of the points table with six points from three matches, while Mumbai slipped to seventh spot with two points from three games.

Player of the Match
Yashasvi Jaiswal was adjudged Player of the Match for his magnificent innings of 77* (32) studded with ten fours and four sixes. He got Rajasthan off to a blazing start alongside Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, adding 80 runs for the first wicket off just 30 balls, which also happened to be the turning point of the match as MI were only catching up with Rajasthan after their stand.
What did the captains say:
Winning Captain, Riyan Parag (Rajasthan Royals):
(Winning three out of three) Feels great. The way the boys have showed up every game, it's something I can't really ask any more of, but kudos to them. (How are you viewing the team?) I've always known this team to be a really strong team. Even when we had the auction, I knew we were a really strong team because we have a strong core group and that they're very young as well. Everyone outside didn't really believe in us, but then hopefully we can turn things around and keep on performing like this. (On the batting and bowling opening pair) Jofra's messaging is just go out there and bowl as fast as you can, Nandre as well. On their own days, they're quick, lethal and they're in so much control. So I think someone who bowls 145-150 to be in such control is just crazy. And, Vaibhav and Jaiswal, I think I don't really have any words to express. (Where do they stand among the opening combos in this IPL?) Number one. First of all, they've got age on their side, the talent they possess. Vaibhav, I think he's just incredible. It's not one-way slogging. If you saw him in Ahmedabad, he assessed the conditions and went for it. Jaiswal, he's been doing it for 3-4 years now. So I feel both of their skills combined with the maturity they have at such a young age, I feel the best going on right now.
Losing Captain, Hardik Pandya (Mumbai Indians):
(Bowling in the powerplay) I think we didn't execute the deliveries which we were supposed to and they played well. I think our bowlers need to take the responsibility. As a bowling group, we were not at all up to the mark and they played tremendous cricket. (Needed a better batting approach?) I would not put this game on the batting. This was definitely the bowling unit which had to take responsibility. It's T20 cricket, it's about always bowling those right couple of balls. And if you see 27, that means we are talking about five good balls and five less sixes. So if we would have executed the right balls, yeah, we would have been in the game. But as I said, their openers kind of enforced couple of overs, threw us out of the game. Then throughout we were catching up and yeah, we fell short. (On Vaibhav Sooryavanshi) It's quite fascinating to see a 17 or a 16 year old boy and playing the way he played. At the same point of time, discussing so much about him in the preparation leading up to the game. So yeah, amazing to see the way he bats, the kind of fearlessness he has, the kind of shots he has. I wish him absolute good luck in the future. (On the next game vs RCB) Just learn from the mistakes. The morning will come tomorrow, the sun will rise. So yeah, just learn from our mistakes and prepare well for the next game"
