Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Tim David have been fined for breaching the tournament Code of Conduct during the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) Match 20 on Sunday, April 12 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

David has been fined 25% of his match fee and has also accumulated one Demerit Point for breaching Level 1 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials. The RCB batter breached Article 2.4 for disobeying the umpire’s instruction during the match.

David violated the article twice during the match, first during the 18th over (17.2) of RCB’s batting innings, when the umpires changed the ball. The Australian batter was seen asking for the changed ball from the umpires to look at it, and wasn’t handing it back to them despite being repeatedly asked to do so.

David repeated his acts during the 20th over (19.2) and again didn’t return the ball to the umpires, which amounts to repeated failure to comply with the instructions or directives of the umpires.

Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya also attracted sanctions for maintaining a slow over-rate. Since it was Mumbai Indians’ first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, he has been fined INR 12 lakhs.

RCB beat MI by 18 runs

Coming back to the match, RCB beat Mumbai Indians by 18 runs in Match 20 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After being put in to bat first, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) posted a massive score of 240/4 in their 20 overs, riding on half-centuries from Philip Salt (78 off 36), Virat Kohli (50 off 38) and Rajat Patidar (53 off 20).

In reply, Mumbai were restricted to 222/5 in their 20 overs, as a fiery innings from Sherfane Rutherford (71* off 31), ended in vain.
