Jemimah Rodrigues suffers hamstring injury ahead of Women's Asia Cup 2026

Star India batter Jemimah Rodrigues has been ruled out of the ongoing women’s Hundred due to a hamstring injury. Her ouster has come at an unwanted time for India, with the Women’s Asia Cup also scheduled to begin on August 28 in Dubai.

Rodrigues was a direct signing for Southern Brave for £60,000 (US$80,000 approx.) and had been in rich form for the team. The right-handed batter had accumulated 143 runs from six innings at an average of 35.75 with a highest score of an unbeaten 42*. Rodrigues had won two Player of the Match awards for her team and was leading their charge to the knockout stages.

Courtesy of her performances, Brave are sitting second on the points table with five wins from six matches, having 20 points to their name. Jemimah Rodrigues' absence will be felt by Brave, who have two matches left against Manchester Super Giants and Trent Rockets to earn an automatic qualification to the final by finishing on top of the points table.

India's Asia Cup campaign begins on August 30

While the extent of Rodrigues' hamstring injury is yet to be known, her ouster could well be a precautionary measure to preserve her fitness and prevent further damage ahead of the Asia Cup. India are placed in Group A of the tournament, alongside Pakistan, Thailand, Hong Kong China and will begin their campaign against Thailand in Dubai on August 30.

Meanwhile, Braves have announced Australian allrounder Charli Knott as Rodrigues’ replacement, who returns to the team after featuring for them in the 2024 edition.

Knott has been in good T20 form in the ongoing English summer, having scored 404 runs for The Blaze in their Vitality Blast-winning campaign. She also finished as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 27 scalps from 14 innings.
