The Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) and Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) made historic decisions on April 1 to provide financial aid in the form of monthly pension to former women players from their respective state. Notably though, the players who would be eligible for the scheme would be the ones not covered under the BCCI's own pension scheme.
When it comes to the MPCA, the pension amounts would range from INR 6000 to INR 12,500 per month. Moreover, players who are above 75 years of age would receive INR 7500 more per month. Meanwhile, honorary secretary of the board Sudhir Asnani shed light on the different brackets devised for determination of pension amounts.

“Former women players who have played in international Tests and One Day Internationals will be provided INR 12,500 per month, those who have played domestic cricket will be given INR 6,000 to INR 10,000, depending on the number of matches played," said Asnani.
In the case of the KSCA, to be eligible for the pension scheme the former woman player should have represented the state in the Senior Women’s National Championship and is aged 55 or more as well as she should not be receiving the BCCI's pension. The amount earmarked for each eligible former player is INR 15,000 per month and the scheme came into effect from April 1, 2026.
“This initiative is aimed at recognising and honouring valuable contributions made by former women cricketers to the state," said KSCA secretary Santosh Menon.
Notably, boards from other states such as Gujarat, Vidarbha, Baroda, Rajasthan, and Bengal also have similar pension schemes in place for past women players.
BCCI's pension scheme
As a matter of fact, the BCCI's own pension scheme provides INR 52,500 per month to former international women players whereas former first-class players who retired prior to 2003 get INR 45,000 per month.
The Test players who quit prior to December 31, 1993 and played more than 25 games get INR 70,000, the ones who played 50-74 games up to the 2003-04 season get INR 45,000 and the ones who played over 75 matches get INR 52,500.
