Fast bowler Auqib Nabi has been added to India’s squad for the first three ODIs against New Zealand. Nabi was initially part of the squad just for the fourth and fifth matches of the series. However, he will now be part of the team for the entire series.

Nabi’s selection comes a day after Prasidh Krishna was ruled out of the ODI assignment to continue his ongoing recovery from a left hamstring injury. Auqib Nabi made his debut for India during the ODI series against West Indies in September.

He featured in the second match in Guwahati and returned figures of 0/84 in 8.5 overs. Nabi is currently a part of India A's red-ball squad in New Zealand, where he played in the first unofficial Test against New Zealand A and scalped six wickets.

Krishna is expected to join the India A squad for the third unofficial Test, which will be played alongside the ODI series. He sustained a hamstring injury during the same ODI in which Nabi made his debut.

In an earlier statement, the BCCI said Krishna would "need additional time to build up the workload required to be ready for matches." It added that missing the ODI series would allow him to gain match practice and prepare for the upcoming Test series.

The five-match ODI series between New Zealand and India is scheduled to run from November 4 to 15, followed by the two-Test series, which begins on November 19.
