Pat Cummins has been cleared medically by Cricket Australia to link up with the rest of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) squad for IPL 2026, and he will be flying back to India on Friday (April 17).

Cummins confirmed his travel plans while replying to a comment on one of his Instagram posts, where he can be seen holidaying with his family in the Blue Mountains.

Cummins was with the rest of the SRH squad for the initial few games of the season and was seen sharing his inputs with the interim captain, Ishan Kishan. Cummins was also seen bowling on practice wickets before the start of a few of the SRH games.

He returned to Australia earlier this month for his pre-scheduled follow-up scans, which confirmed that the stress fracture he was battling with had now healed.

The 32-year-old suffered lumbar bone stress following Australia's tour of West Indies last year and could only manage to play in the Adelaide Test of the Ashes 2025-26. He registered figures of 3/69 and 3/48 in the two innings of the Test match and helped Australia retain the urn by guiding them to an 82-run win.

He was also initially named in Australia's squad for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 due to the signs of his recovery. However, he was subsequently ruled out as he ultimately ran out of time. Australia missed him dearly at the marquee tournament and were knocked out of the group stage, following losses to Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad are fourth on the points table with two wins and three losses in five games. They have a net run rate (NRR) of 0.576.

SRH's batting has clicked along expected lines, but their bowling remains a work in progress. The team management would hope that Cummins' return bolsters their pace battery and gives them the firepower they need to restrict opponents.
