Pakistan players will be undergoing training camps for red and white-ball cricketers across the summer at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore under the supervision of head coaches of the respective formats, Sarfaraz Ahmed and Mike Hesson.

The red-ball camp begins on June 8, while the white-ball cricketers will arrive at the academy on June 15, following which both camps will run simultaneously until Pakistan's next Test and limited-overs assignments. The red-ball camp will end on July 10 and will be followed by a pre-tour camp for the two Tests in West Indies.

On the other hand, the white-ball camp will run until September 18, ahead of Pakistan's next white-ball assignment at the Asian Games 2026 in Japan (September-October).

A total of 49 players will be participating in the two camps, out of which 22 are for red-ball, while 27 are for white-ball, and more players are likely to be added by the NCA. Meanwhile, those who have contracts with English counties for this summer have not been included in these camps and may be called up towards the end of the respective camps if they are in consideration for national selection.

Players to be swapped between two camps

Players will also be swapped between the two camps as Pakistan's ODI captain, Shaheen Afridi, who’s initially named among the 27 white-ball players, is also expected to work on his longer-format bowling over the next month. Shaheen and others involved in the recent three-ODI series against Australia will join the camp from June 15.

The players will also be involved in practice and scenario-based matches, alongside working on their fitness and skills.

"Both camps have been devised to prepare players for upcoming international and domestic events. During the camps, the players will work with National and NCA coaches alongside PCB Medical staff on their skills and fitness. The players will also have one-on-one sessions with coaches to better understand the skills and fitness requirements at the international level,” said PCB in a media release.

The main focus of the training camps would be to bring a change in the fielding standards of Pakistan, where they have been below par at the international level.
