The IPL 2026 season has been a stage for countless youngsters across the 10 franchises to showcase their credentials. Yet, it has also served as a proving ground for seasoned campaigners, those who many thought had passed their peak. As the playoffs loom, three senior professionals have emphatically extended their IPL shelf life with performances that demand respect.

1. Jason Holder (GT)

Bought by Gujarat Titans for INR 7 crore at the Abu Dhabi auction, Jason Holder began the season on the bench as Titans backed Glenn Phillips. But Phillips’ underwhelming return: 67 runs in five innings at an average of 16.75 and strike rate of 124.07, forced a rethink. Titans then looked at Holder, and he delivered immediately.

In just five innings, Holder has bagged 10 wickets at an average of 12.20 and an economy of 6.65, including a four‑wicket haul. His batting cameos have added value, but it is his incisive bowling that has turned him into an asset for Titans.

2. Sunil Narine (KKR)

When KKR parted ways with Andre Russell, questions swirled about how long they would continue to invest faith in Sunil Narine. But at 37, the magician from Trinidad has silenced every doubt.

Narine has scalped 10 wickets in nine games at a scarcely believable economy rate of 6.51. In a season where batters have dictated terms, his ability to choke runs has been nothing short of extraordinary. Narine has reminded the league that mystery spin, when executed with precision, remains timeless.

3. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (RCB)

Much like Narine, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has proven that age is just a number. After playing a pivotal role in guiding RCB to their maiden IPL title last season with 17 wickets in 14 games, the 36‑year‑old seamer has raised the bar even higher in 2026.

He currently leads the wicket charts with 21 dismissals in just 11 matches. What makes this feat remarkable is his economy rate of 7.46, achieved despite bowling regularly at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, a venue notorious for punishing bowlers. Bhuvneshwar’s control over his craft has been central to RCB’s progress.

In a season dominated by batting pyrotechnics, these veterans have shown that skill, adaptability, and resilience can still tilt the balance. Their performances are a reminder that experience, when harnessed, remains one of the most potent weapons in the IPL.
