Match Overview
Vidarbha's right-arm speedster Praful Hinge set the stage ablaze with a dream debut in match 21 of IPL 2026 as he helped Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) snap the winning streak of Rajasthan Royals in Hyderabad on April 13. Chasing 217, Rajasthan were bundled out for just 159 in 19 overs and lost by 57 runs.
Bought for INR 30 lakhs by SRH at the IPL 2026 auction in Abu Dhabi, the 24-year-old Hinge was warming bench until now and impressed with a remarkable debut at home. Player of the Match (POTM) Hinge was picked by SRH based on his promising numbers (27 wickets in 10 matches) in first-class cricket.

He removed Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for a golden duck, and Dhruv Jurel and Lhuan-dre Pretorius for silver ducks in the opening over of his spell to reduce Rajasthan to 1 for the loss of three wickets. Before the visitors could stabilise themselves, Yashasvi Jaiswal fell to another debutant, Sakib Hussain.
Hussain, 21, who hails from Bihar, was brought into the fixture as an Impact sub in place of Travis Head. Hinge broke the back of Rajasthan on the last delivery of his second over as he dismissed Riyan Parag and had the tourists reeling at 9/5.
Donovan Ferreira (69 off 44 balls), who was bought by Rajasthan at INR 1 crore and Ravindra Jadeja (45 off 32 balls) added 118 runs for the sixth wicket off 72 balls and saved Rajasthan from a humiliating defeat. Tushar Deshpande (25 off 11) hit a few lusty blows before he was cleaned up by Eshan Malinga. Hinge ended with figures of 4/34, and Hussain registered 4/24.
Earlier, Abhishek Sharma bagged his seventh duck of 2026 after he charged at Jofra Archer's first ball and SRH got off to a forgettable start. Ishan Kishan (91 off 44) stitched a 55-run stand for the second wicket with Travis Head and then added 88 runs for the third wicket with Heinrich Klaasen (40 off 26).
Nitish Reddy (28 off 13) and Salil Arora (24* off 13) provided the finishing touch as SRH posted 216. Archer was the pick of the Rajasthan bowlers, who claimed 2/37 at 9.25 runs per over.

Player of the Match
Praful Hinge
Praful Hinge was the one who killed Rajasthan Royals' chase, and that too in the first over. Hinge dismissed Sooryavanshi on the first ball to dent Royals, induced an inside edge onto the stumps by Jurel and got Lhuan-dre Pretorius, who was bought by Royals at INR 30 lakhs at the auction, to end his eventful first over. Parag was his fourth scalp, and he bowled 14 dot balls.
Turning Point
Hinge's opening burst was the turning point of the game. He ripped Rajasthan's batting order to shreds in the very first over, and they were behind the eight ball from then on.
What the captains said
Winning Team Captain, Ishan Kishan (SRH)
Very happy with this win. Just felt happy because what we were looking for from the bowlers (freedom in execution), we did that. Credit goes to the bowlers. (On the debutants) You also have to look how hungry and motivated they feel. They were working throughout the season with bowling coach Varun Aaron. They were talking to experienced players. Had to give them a chance at their home ground. It was the right move today. The way Abhishek plays, he can sometimes get out. Our job is to take it deep and allow him to play freely. He got out, he will be motivated in the next game. (On not keeping) As a captain, there was some miscommunication going on. Better to be there, ask what they (bowlers) are going to bowl, and set the fields. And it worked (tonight). (On if him not keeping this IPL is the way to go) Hopefully.
Losing Team Captain, Riyan Parag (RR)
(On the top order collapse) Not a lot of time to feel emotions. Credit to the way they bowled. Few miscalculations from us. (On the pitch) It was pretty good. Felt bowling second might have been better. It was sticky with the new ball. After the shine went, it slowed down. But again, that is hindsight and we could have batted better. (On Hinge and Sakib) I have not seen them a lot domestically. Played Sakib (when playing for Assam versus Bihar) once. They bowled beautifully. The pressure they had, with the home crowd chanting their name, the way they bowled - it was beautiful. (What they could have done differently in the first innings and the decision to not bowl Jadeja) Started well, probably could have done a few things here and there. Split second decision, Kishan was batting well, so trusted Bishnoi (over Jadeja). They were 30 over par. Being five wickets down for nine, and still getting to 160, says a lot about the depth. It is just a blip. We move ahead to Kolkata and something better.
