Rawalpindiz’s misery continued in the Pakistan Super League 2026 (PSL 2026), as they suffered their fourth successive loss of the tournament against Multan Sultans by 7 wickets on Monday, April 6 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. After being put in to bat first, Rawalpindiz posted a decent score of 182/8 in their allotted 20 overs, courtesy of a half-century from Sam Billings (56* off 34).

In reply, Multan chased down the target without breaking a sweat in just 16.2 overs as Sahibzada Farhan and Josh Phillipe led the way with their splendid half-centuries. Earlier in the day, Rawalpindiz’s openers continued their struggles as both Mohammad Rizwan (19 off 13) and Yasir Khan (5 off 7) returned to the pavilion inside the powerplay.

Kamran Ghulam (35 off 24) walked in at number three and held one end. However, a menacing spell in the middle overs from Faisal Akram led to Rawalpindiz losing three wickets in quick succession and were reduced to 94/5 in 12 overs. A solid half-century from Billings, along with a fiery cameo from Dian Forrester (24 off 11), helped Rawalpindiz cross the 180-run mark.

In the second innings, Mohammed Amir (2/32, 3 overs) ignited hopes in the Rawalpindiz’s camp by removing Steve Smith (5 off 5) cheaply. However, Sahibzada Farhan continued his rich form and found good support from Josh Phillipe (56 off 30), with the duo adding 110 runs for the second wicket off just 58 balls.

Following their dismissals, Shan Masood (27 off 15) and captain Ashton Turner (26* off 10) took their team over the line with their unbeaten stand of 47 off just 19 balls for the fourth wicket. As a result, Multan continued their reign at the top of the points table with four wins from five matches, having eight points to their name.

On the other hand, Rawalpindiz continued to reel at the second-last spot (seventh), after losing all four of their fixtures so far.

Player of the Match

Faisal Akram was adjudged Player of the Match for his remarkable spell as he ran through Rawalpindiz's middle order. He dismissed Abdullah Fazal, Kamran Ghulam and Daryl Mitchell in three successive overs and later got rid of Rishad Hossain in the 16th over to finish with four wickets in the match. His spell also turned out to be the turning point of the game.

What did the captains say:

Winning Captain, Ashton Turner (Multan Sultans):

Yeah, but I think there's a lot of smiles around the team, and as you can see, we've got some more form, and we know that, you know, whilst we lost Lahore game, you know, we know that there's a little bit that we can improve on, particularly with the bowling attack, and we're getting really tough conditions, like going into this week, but we've had some time now. We've been pretty surprised with what we've done. We're standing right at the top of the campaign, and we've had some learnings from over in the Asia Cup with Karachi. (on their batting) . Beautiful battrs, you've got to the high quality individual bats in the run as well. You know, we see what class players as a couple of all-rounders, but what's really exciting is particularly some of our local domestic players. Our players haven't answered much, but in that middle order offering us one great intent, but two, also a lot of runs, so they're getting results for us. You know, the superstars more often than not, they're going to be successful by receiving contributions to our levels.

Losing Captain, Mohammad Rizwan, (Rawalpindiz):

Hopefully the luck changes in Karachi and the conditions will change, also our planning will change. It happens in franchise cricket - if you make a change, you need to make 2-3 changes. Have to look at the foreigners as well and also you have to play the Emerging players. We try and go with a balanced side. The toss has not gone in favor in the last 3-4 matches, early on the ball is gripping. That's why there's a margin of 20 runs and the results have not gone our way.
