Match Overview
Lahore Qalandars (LQ) and Multan Sultans (MS) locked horns in the 11th match of PSL 2026 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Friday, April 3. MS captain Ashton Turner won the toss and elected to bowl first with the match being reduced to 13 overs per side due to a prolonged rain delay even before the match started.
The openers - Mohammad Naeem and Parvez Hossain Emon - launched from the first over itself, taking out 26 runs off Muhammad Ismail. There was no looking back for the duo as they batted fearlessly to accumulate as many runs as they could before the four-over powerplay ended. The Qalandars raced to 86 for no loss by the end of the fifth over, but soon after Emon perished for a well-made 45(19).

Abdullah Shafique gave Naeem good company and the duo put on 58 runs for the second wicket off just 25 balls as the Qalandars were going at more than 16 runs per over at the eighth-over mark. Shafique was dismissed not long after though for a quickfire 33(14) and an over later, Naeem too was sent back to the dugout but not before he played a game-changing 60(28). In the end, the Qalandars finished at a massive 185/5 in their full quota of 13 overs scoring them at a run rate of 14.23.
The Sultans began the innings poorly as the Aussies - Steven Smith and wicketkeeper-batter Josh Phillippe - were out for single-digit scores by the start of the fourth over. However, Shan Masood joined Sahibzada Farhan and the duo put on 32 runs for the third wicket before the right-hander was caught at long-on for 24(15). Meanwhile, the runs were not coming at a quick enough rate though and the pressure was on the batters to come next.
Skipper Turner and Masood formed a much-needed 50-run 24-ball stand before the latter was dismissed for a rapid 44(18). The required rate was still climbing up, but the Sultans did not give up. Turner now combined with Arafat Minhas for a speedy 57-run partnership off 20 balls but still, it did not prove enough as the Sultans lost the match by 20 runs in the end.

Player of the Match
Mohammad Naeem
Naeem got off the blocks rapidly. The right-hander set the tone for the team and formed crucial and quickfire stands with the top order. The 26-year-old played his strokes to perfection and impressed with his hard-hitting at the top.
Turning Point
The first-wicket partnership of 86 runs off 31 balls gave the Qalandars a huge advantage right at the start. The way Naeem and Emon batted, it made the job of the rest of the batting line-up easier as they did not need to panic and try and hit every ball out of the park right from the outset.
What the captains said
Winning Team Captain, Shaheen Shah Afridi (LQ)
"Simple plan was to go and play your own shots. Shafique chipped in with a really good innings. We have top bowlers, Fizz is here, Haris is here, Ubaid is doing well and Sikandar is number one all-rounder. Not a tough loss or anything like that. That was a very good game (their previous match against Karachi Kings). Last-over finish.
Losing Team Captain, Ashton Turner (MS)
"Weren't at our absolute best in the first half of the game. Fortunate thing was that we kept fighting. Frustrating thing is there were things in our control like no balls and wide. Have to tidy that up. It's not the end of the world when you lose a game. Need to have a good hard look at ourselves. Need to find a way to restrict opposition sides."
