Multan Sultans continued their winning run in the Pakistan Super League 2026 (PSL 2026) with a six-wicket win in the high-scoring fixture against Hyderabad Kingsmen on Wednesday, April 1 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. After opting to bat first, Hyderabad posted a massive score of 225/5 in their allotted 20 overs, riding on half-centuries from Maaz Sadaqat and Sharjeel Khan.
In reply, Multan Sultans chased down the target in 18.4 overs, courtesy of a splendid hundred from Sahibzada Farhan. Earlier, Hyderabad got off to a great start to their innings with openers Sadaqat (62 off 26) and Saim Ayub (27 off 20) adding 59 runs for the first wicket off 31 balls.

Later, Sharjeel Khan (51* off 26) got involved in crucial stands with Usman Khan (25 off 12), Syed Saad Ali (23 off 19) and Irfan Khan (22* off 13) to help their team cross the 220-run mark.
In the second innings, Multan were on track for the massive chase right from the word go, with Farhan and Steven Smith (46 off 20) adding a massive 104-run opening stand off 49 balls. Following Smith’s dismissal, Farhan continued to attack as he brought up his half-century off 25 balls and later reached three figures off 55 deliveries.
He received good support from Shan Masood (29 off 16) and Arafat Minhas (26* off 11) as Multan chased down the target within 19 overs to rise to the top of the points table. On the other hand, Hyderabad suffered their third successive defeat to continue reeling at the bottom.

Player of the Match
Sahibzada Farhan was deservedly adjudged Player of the Match for his sensational century that held Multan's innings together. He stitched crucial stands with Steve Smith, Shan Masood and Arafat Minhas to guide his team to a comfortable victory.
Turning Point
Sahibzada Farhan was batting on 56 (28) when he hit Maaz Sadaqat straight towards Irfan Niazi at long on, who dropped him. It hurt Hyderabad Kingsmen big time as Farhan took the match away from their grasp with his splendid century.
What did the captains say:
Winning Captain, Ashton Turner (Multan Sultans):
It’s really satisfying that we’ve had contributions from all 11 players so early in the tournament, and we will take a lot of confidence from this win (on team performance). You always need the context of both innings to judge things properly - we weren’t perfect, but perfection isn’t really attainable; there are areas, especially in the first half, that we can reflect on and improve going forward (on overall assessment). Given how the second innings played out, you can cut the bowlers some slack - it was tough with the conditions being wet right from the start and it being a very good batting wicket (on bowling struggles). Watching Farhan bat is amazing - I’m fortunate to travel and see such talented players, and he’s certainly one of them, though there are many quality cricketers here (on opposition batter). Captaining comes with challenges, but I’m really enjoying it - I’ve got a great group, strong support staff, and we’re all working together to improve every day, which hopefully leads to success (on captaincy experience).
Losing Captain, Marnus Labuschagne (Hyderabad Kingsmen):
Getting 225 on the board, with or without dew, you’d normally feel it’s a defendable total, but it just didn’t work out that way tonight - they batted really well and their openers got off to the perfect start in a big chase (on defending the total). We missed a few chances in the field which probably cost us, but I’m really proud of the intent - we wanted to come back strong in the tournament, and the way our top order set the tone was excellent, with strong contributions in the middle as well, so there are a lot of positives from the batting performance (on team effort). From a bowling perspective, there are things we can look back at - personally, maybe I could have made a different decision around the 15th over, but those are things you reflect on later; overall, we just need to keep trusting our skills and execute better (on bowling decisions). Scoring 220-plus is a big positive for us, especially after a couple of games where things weren’t clicking, so that’s something we can build on (on positives). It’s a long tournament, and while the result didn’t go our way, we will learn from this and come back stronger going into the next phase in Karachi (on future outlook).
