Rahul Chopra's blazing ton powers UAE to 97-run win over Canada

United Arab Emirates (UAE) hammered Canada by 97 runs in Match 125 of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 on Tuesday, August 11, at Forthill, Dundee. After Canada captain Saad Bin Zafar won the toss and elected to bowl first, UAE posted a good score of 282/6 in their allotted 50 overs.
They were reduced to 21/2 after 6.1 overs after Kaleem Sana (3/39) accounted for both openers, Aryansh Sharma and Adeeb Usmani, cheaply. Rahul Chopra slammed a magnificent century to bail his team out of trouble, playing a stunning innings of 127* (118), laced with 15 fours and a six.
He received good support from Harpreet Singh Bhatia (81 off 79) as the duo stitched a massive 109-run partnership for the fourth wicket off 116 balls.
In reply, Canada were bundled out for just 185 in 33.4 overs with Aaron Johnson playing a lone hand of 70 (73).
In the end, Zahid Shirsad’s late blitzkrieg only helped to salvage some pride, allowing Canada to cross the 180-run mark. He whacked a 23-ball half-century, playing a blistering knock of 54 (26), clobbering four fours and five sixes. Muhammad Jawadullah (3/36, 7 overs) and Muhammad Arfan (2/24, 6 overs) emerged as the pick of the bowlers for UAE.

Following their comprehensive win, Rahul Chopra was adjudged Player of the Match for his spectacular century.
Despite their win, UAE continued to reel at the bottom of the ICC Cricket World Cup League Two points table with eight wins from 28 matches, having 18 points to their name.
