The Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) final is upon us as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT) are all set to clash in the all-important final on Sunday, May 31 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Both teams have sealed their spots in the summit clash after dominating throughout the league stages of the competition.
Several top stars will be in action during the final, with both teams having no dearth of match-winners in their squad. As several stalwarts are all set to grace the pitch in the upcoming fixture, many new records and milestones will also be on the cards in the mega encounter. As the IPL 2026 final draws closer, here are five records that can be broken in the mega encounter:

Five records which can be broken in the IPL 2026 final:
1. Fastest to 150 wickets
Kagiso Rabada has been at his menacing best in the ongoing season as he sits at the top of the wicket-takers list with 28 scalps to his name from 16 innings. Rabada has 147 wickets to his name in his IPL career from 100 matches and is just three wickets away from completing 150 wickets. If he manages to reach the landmark in the final, he will become the fastest player to take 150 wickets by matches, surpassing Lasith Malinga, who reached there in 105 IPL games.
2. Most wickets in an IPL season
Kagiso Rabada also finds himself on the cusp of another record as he has a chance to break the record for most wickets in a single IPL season. Currently, the record is jointly held by Dwayne Bravo and Harshal Patel, who scalped 32 wickets each in the 2013 and 2021 seasons, respectively.
If Rabada takes a five-wicket haul in the final, he will surpass both Bravo and Patel to etch his name in the record books. Given his rich form at the Narendra Modi Stadium in the ongoing edition, no one can count Rabada out of achieving the landmark.
3. First player to win three Purple caps
Bhuvneshwar Kumar is currently the second-highest wicket-taker of the season with 26 wickets from 15 innings. The veteran seamer has won the Purple cap twice in his illustrious IPL career, along with Dwayne Bravo and Harshal Patel. If he somehow manages to overtake Rabada in the list, he will become the first bowler to win purple cap thrice in IPL history.
4. Most partnership runs in a single season
Gujarat Titans' famed opening duo of Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan also find themselves on the cusp of history. The opening pair has scored 912 runs batting together at the crease so far from 15 innings. They need to score just 28 runs more in the final to break the record for most partnership runs in a single season.
Currently, the record is jointly held by the pairs of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, and Kohli and Faf Du Plessis, as both pairs have scored 939 runs each in the 2016 and 2023 seasons, respectively.
5. Most fours in a single season
Shubman Gill (72 fours) also has a chance to break the record for most fours in a single IPL season. Currently, David Warner and Gill’s opening partner, Sai Sudharsan, jointly hold the record, having hit 88 fours each in the 2016 and 2025 seasons, respectively. The GT opener needs 17 more fours to surpass their landmark, and he would fancy his chances as he's fresh from hitting 15 fours in the Qualifier 2 against Rajasthan Royals. Sudharsan, who's hit 73 fours this season, can also surpass his own record during the final.
