Rohit Sharma was forced to retire hurt mid-innings during the 20th match of the ongoing 19th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Wankhede on April 12. Rohit felt some discomfort in his right hamstring before the start of the sixth over and received some treatment for it. Despite the treatment, it appeared to hamper his running between the wickets, as Rohit didn't seem comfortable in his gait.

He decided to put an end to his stay in the middle after the second delivery of the sixth over, bowled by Rasikh Salam Dar and went back to the dressing room. He scored 19 off 13 balls with the help of two fours and a maximum. The former Mumbai Indians skipper didn't come out to bat again as Mumbai fell short by 18 in pursuit of 241.

Virat Kohli battles ankle issue

Former RCB skipper Virat Kohli also suffered an injury scare during the game. He was seen getting treated on his left leg in the 10th over of the RCB innings. Virat scored a 38-ball 50 before holing out to long-on while attempting to go down the ground against Hardik Pandya on the fourth delivery of the 15th over.

Commentator Simon Doull described his nature of injury as an ankle issue on air. He also asked the RCB skipper Rajat Patidar for an update on Kohli during the post-match presentation.

"I don't know, but I feel he's okay right now," Patidar responded.

RCB pipped Mumbai in a high-scoring affair. The defending champions have accumulated six points in four games with three wins and a loss and have a net run rate (NRR) of 1.148. They are only behind Punjab Kings (seven points) and Rajasthan Royals (eight points) on the ladder. RCB will now host Lucknow Super Giants at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 15, whereas Mumbai will play hosts to Punjab Kings on April 16.
