India A men’s team crushed Sri Lanka A by 10 wickets in the second Unofficial Test at Galle, clinching the two-match series 1-0. The victory was powered by outstanding performances from pacer Gurnoor Brar and spin-bowling allrounder Saransh Jain, who dominated across four days.
Gurnoor finished with match figures of 10/145, while Saransh contributed with both bat and ball. Saransh claimed 4/92 in the first innings, followed it up with an unbeaten 70-run knock, and later added 2/62 in the second innings.
Led by wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel, India A elected to field first after winning the toss. Sri Lanka A posted 366, with captain Sahan Arachchige leading the way. He scored a superb 127 off 207 deliveries, striking 13 fours and two sixes during his marathon 335-minute stay. While several other batters got starts, none managed to cross fifty, leaving Arachchige to carry the innings.
India’s bowlers shared the spoils: Gurnoor and Saransh picked up four wickets apiece, while right-arm seamer Yash Thakur chipped in with 2/46.
In reply, India piled up a massive 543. Opener Sai Sudharsan was the star, smashing 168 with 22 fours. He shared an 182-run stand for the second wicket with Devdutt Padikkal, who fell agonisingly short of a century with 94 off 152 balls, decorated with 11 fours. Jurel added a handy 53 off 88 before Saransh took charge with his unbeaten 70. India declared on day three at 543/9, holding a lead of 177 runs.
Sri Lanka A needed resilience to overcome the deficit, but only Ashen Bandara showed fight. His counterattacking 87 off 86 balls came at a strike rate of 101.16, before Gurnoor dismissed him. Gurnoor was ruthless in the second innings, taking 6/68 to dismantle the hosts. Sri Lanka A folded for 209, leaving India A a target of just 33 runs.
Sudharsan (25* ) and Aman Mokhade (11* ) knocked off the runs in just 6.2 overs, sealing a dominant win. Notably, the first unofficial Test played between the two teams had ended in a draw.
