Shree Charani sets new record in ICC women’s T20I bowling rankings

India left-arm spinner Shree Charani has scripted history in the ICC women's T20I bowling rankings, achieving the highest-ever rating by a bowler in the shortest format. Charani has climbed to a career-best 817 rating points in the latest update of the rankings, shared by the ICC on Tuesday, September 29.
The India spinner has surpassed Australia's Megan Schutt, who achieved 806 ratings in November 2018. The left-arm spinner has been enjoying a golden period in her career, having played pivotal roles in India’s record-extending eighth Women's Asia Cup title as well as their second successive gold-medal campaign at the Asian Games 2026.
She finished as the second-highest wicket-taker of the Asia Cup with 12 wickets from five innings, including a spectacular spell of 4/20 in the final against Sri Lanka that guided India to a 72-run victory to lift the trophy.
She later finished as the highest wicket-taker at the women’s cricket event in the Asian Games 2026. Charani registered her career-best figures of 4/10 against hosts Japan to help India qualify for the semi-finals.
She later scalped two wickets in the gold medal match against Sri Lanka as India won by 147 runs, which helped her gain 817 ratings.
Smriti Mandhana enters top five
Apart from her, Deepti Sharma has retained second spot with 754 points after a successful campaign in Asia Cup, where she was the highest wicket taker with 14 wickets from five games. She later picked seven wickets from three games in the Asian Games, including a three-wicket haul in the final against Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, star India batter Smriti Mandhana has risen one spot to enter the top five of the women's T20I batting rankings.
