Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper Shreyas Iyer is most likely to feature against the Chennai Super Kings on Friday, March 3 after scans revealed no fracture to his right wrist. Although there is swelling to his hand the batter is likely to recover in time to lead his team in Chennai.

Shreyas suffered the injury scare in the match against Gujarat Titans on Tuesday, March 31. The right-hander was batting with Cooper Connolly in the second innings when in the 12th over a smash from the latter off Rashid Khan found the wrist of the PBKS captain at the non-striker's end. Shreyas was in massive pain and the physio attended to him immediately. The 31-year-old carried on batting after receiving treatment, but soon after fell for 18(11). Meanwhile, Shreyas shed light on his condition in the post-match presentation saying that it was as good as before.

"All I can say about the hand is that it is nice, the same as it was before. I do not want to jinx anything," said Shreyas.

Connolly's 72* guides PBKS to nervy win

PBKS won their first game of the season against GT on the back of IPL debutant Cooper Connolly's unbeaten 72 off 44 balls, an innings which comprised five fours and sixes each. The batter came in at number three in the second over itself and guided the team through different phases towards victory. Notably, the left-hander weathered the storm in the latter half of the chase as three quick wickets put PBKS in a spot of bother.

The team from north India has arrived in Chennai for their second clash. Their opposition, on the other hand, suffered a massive defeat against RR in their first match in Guwahati. The Men in Yellow, nevertheless, would hope their fortunes change at their home ground which has historically been their fortress. But, it would not be easy to overcome the PBKS challenge as the IPL 2025 finalist appears to be resilient enough.
