South Africa women’s national selection panel announced their squad for the T20I series against India on Monday, April 13. South Africa will host India for a five-match T20I series from April 17 -27. The most notable absence from the 15-member squad is former South Africa captain Dane van Niekerk, who’s still recovering from a calf injury which ruled her out of last month's series in New Zealand.

Apart from her, veteran all-rounder Marizanne Kapp has also missed out on a spot due to illness. Wicketkeeper-batter Karabo Meso failed to make it to the squad due to a wrist injury, as Tebogo Macheke receives her maiden national call-up.

Meanwhile, apart from the squad, Cricket South Africa (CSA) has also made changes to their support staff, choosing not to renew the contracts of batting coach Baakier Abrahams, fielding coach Bongani Ndaba, and strength and conditioning coach Zane Webster as part of a planned transition within the national setup.

The new support staff includes Tumi Masekela as the strength and conditioning coach, Andrew Puttick as batting coach and Mduduzi Mbhatha as the fielding coach. The trio will assume the responsibilities until the end of the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup before permanent replacements are confirmed.

South Africa placed in Group A in T20 World Cup

The team will be led by Laura Wolvaardt during the series, which will serve as their final assignment ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England, scheduled to be played from June 12 to July 5.

South Africa have been placed in Group A for the tournament, alongside Pakistan, Netherlands, Australia, India and Bangladesh.
