South Delhi Superstarz clinch maiden DPL title with convincing win over Central Delhi Kings

South Delhi Superstarz (SDS) hammered Central Delhi Kings (CDK) by seven wickets in the final of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 season at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday, August 30.

Superstarz’s skipper Tejasvi Dahiya won the toss and elected to field first. They struck on the penultimate ball of the opening over as opener Siddharth Joon fell to Ankit Dabas. Yugal Saini (30 off 25) and Samarth Singh (50 off 26) then added 82 runs for the second wicket and provided a solid platform for their side. While Saini struggled for fluency, Samarth quickly got off the blocks and took the attack to the opposition.

Samarth scored 51 off 27 balls, hitting seven fours and a six at a strike rate of 188.89. His wicket led to a mini‑collapse as CDK fell from 88 for the loss of a solitary wicket to 98/4 at the end of 12 overs.

Central Delhi captain Jonty Sidhu played a quick‑fire knock, hammering 36 off just 19 balls, including two fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 189.47. Money Grewal also played a wonderful cameo (18 off 7 balls), laced with four boundaries at a strike rate of 257.14.

Their quick blitz guided Central Delhi Kings to 182, which at the halfway mark looked a formidable score. Divansh Rawat (3/17) was the pick of the South Delhi bowlers, operating at an economy rate of 4.20. Vision Panchal (2/17) supported Rawat well.

South Delhi began their pursuit of the target with a stable start as openers Pranav Pant (13 off 14 balls) and Anmol Sharma (62 off 41 balls) added 46 runs in 5.1 overs. Keshav Dabas broke the stand as he dismissed Pant, who was struggling to pierce the gaps.

Anmol and Ankit Dabas took responsibility in the middle overs and stayed ahead of the required rate. They added 89 runs for the second wicket and put the Superstarz in the driver’s seat. Anmol fell in the 14th over, but Dahiya took over from where he left off and slammed the door shut on Central Delhi’s hopes. Dahiya scored an 18‑ball 33, laced with three fours and as many sixes at a strike rate of 183.33. Ankit finished it off with 10 balls to spare.
