Subhadeep Ghosh appointed India's new fielding coach ahead of Sri Lanka tour

The Indian men’s cricket team has appointed Subhadeep Ghosh as their new fielding coach ahead of the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. Ghosh replaces T Dilip, who served in the position from 2021 to the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He then returned during India's Test tour of England in 2025 for a one-year stint and was not given a contract extension.
Ghosh previously served as the fielding coach of the Indian women’s team for two years, overseeing the duty during the 2022 Women's ODI World Cup and the 2023 Women's T20 World Cup. Apart from that, he has vast coaching experience, having stints with India A and Assam's senior men's team.
During his playing days, Ghosh was a right-handed batter and played 17 first-class matches and as many List A games for Assam and Railways, scoring 623 runs in total. Ghosh was with the team during the recent three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe.

The BCCI also decided not to extend assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate's contract after the recent white-ball series in England. He's joined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as head of cricket strategy.
India to play two Tests against Sri Lanka
Meanwhile, India will arrive in Sri Lanka on August 4 and will take part in a warm-up fixture beginning on August 7 at the NCC Grounds, Colombo. The Shubman Gill-led side was earlier scheduled to play a four-day warm-up game, which has now been reduced to three days.
The series will begin on August 15 with the first Test set to be played at the Galle International Cricket Stadium (GICS), while the second Test will be held at the SSC, Colombo, from 23 to 27 August.
