Former India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has moved quickly to dismiss swirling social media rumours suggesting he felt humiliated after being left out of the squad by the senior men’s national selection committee, despite leading India to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title earlier this year.

Instead of dwelling on speculation, Suryakumar chose to highlight his pride in the team and extend his support to teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who recently broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record to become India’s youngest men’s international debutant.

“I’m very happy for the team and wish them nothing but the very best, always. I know the boys are giving it their all, and they will always have my full support,” Suryakumar said in his statement. “A special word for Vaibhav - you’re at the start of what promises to be a very exciting journey. Enjoy every moment and keep making the country proud.”

He also addressed the false quotes attributed to him online, making his stance crystal clear.

“I’ve also noticed a statement being circulated online that has been falsely attributed to me. I want to make it clear that I have not made or authorized any such statement. Please don’t believe or share unverified information. My support for Indian cricket, my teammates, and the game will always speak louder than words falsely attributed to me.”

Suryakumar Yadav's record as India's T20I captain

Suryakumar’s tenure as India’s T20I captain remains one of the most successful in the format’s history. He led the side in 52 matches, securing 42 wins and suffering just eight losses, with two games ending without a result. His win percentage stands at an impressive 76.92%, and notably, India never lost a T20I series under his leadership.
