India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav welcomed his first child with wife Devisha Shetty on Thursday, May 7. The couple got blessed with a baby girl as Suryakumar shared the news with his fans on social media. The star batter recently featured in the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) Match 47 for Mumbai Indians (MI) against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Suryakumar led the team in the absence of regular captain Hardik Pandya, who was missed the game due to back spasms. However, following MI’s commanding six-wicket win, he didn’t travel with the team for their upcoming fixture against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Raipur on May 10, to be with his wife.

“With giggles, bows, and dreams to unfurl- we welcome our baby girl,” wrote Suryakumar in the caption, while sharing an adorable photograph of the newborn holding the couple’s fingers in her hand.
Meanwhile, Suryakumar hasn’t been in the best of form in the ongoing IPL 2026, having scored 195 runs from ten innings at an average of 19.50 and a strike rate of 145.52 with one half-century to his name. He even led MI in two matches, filling in for Hardik Pandya as skipper against Delhi Capitals (DC) and LSG.
MI reeling at ninth spot
Suryakumar’s poor form has coincided with Mumbai Indians’ forgettable season as they’re reeling at the second last spot (ninth) on the IPL 2026 points table. MI have won just three out of ten matches so far, with six points to their name.
The Hardik Pandya-led side is already having its back against the wall after a forgettable start and only has a tiny glimmer of hope to qualify ahead for the playoffs.
