Suspense over Rohit Sharma's career evaporates as BCCI announces squad for home series against West Indies

The Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Men's Selection Committee has put an end to weeks-long suspense over Rohit Sharma's future, as the Hitman has been included in India's ODI squad for the home series against West Indies.

Rohit scored a scintillating hundred in the series decider at Lord’s against England, showcasing his batting pedigree amid reports that it could be his final appearance for India.

In another significant development, the selectors have recalled Ravindra Jadeja to the ODI set-up. Jadeja last played an ODI against New Zealand in Indore on January 18, 2026. He replaces Harsh Dubey, who was part of the squad for the ODI series against England.

The selectors have also replaced Ishan Kishan, who featured in the previous ODI series, with Dhruv Jurel. Jammu and Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi Dar and Punjab batter Naman Dhir have earned their maiden ODI call-ups. Mohammed Siraj has been added to the ODI squad as well, along with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who slots in as the third opener.

Dhir, 26, finished as the top run-scorer in the recently concluded season of the Sher-E-Punjab T20 League. He amassed 655 runs in 10 games, averaging 72.78 at a strike rate of 217.61.

Allrounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who missed out on selection for the Ireland and England series with a left quadriceps strain, has also earned a comeback. Washington Sundar has been left out of the ODI side but has retained his place in the T20I team. Prince Yadav and Mayank Yadav are also part of the T20I side, whereas left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav has been included in both formats.

Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who suffered a side strain in the first T20I against Afghanistan, has also been ruled out of the Asian Games and the only T20I against Japan. Leg-spinning allrounder Vipraj Nigam has replaced him in both squads.
