UAE's Asif Khan faces 15-month suspension for breaching ICC anti-doping code

United Arab Emirates (UAE) batter Asif Khan has been suspended for 15 months after testing positive for a banned substance, a metabolite of mesterolone, during an out-of-competition test conducted on 8 September 2025.
The 36-year-old admitted to a violation of Article 2.1 of the ICC Anti-Doping Code and accepted the sanction through a Case Resolution Agreement with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the International Cricket Council (ICC).
As a result, he will serve a 15-month suspension from 8 September 2025 until 7 December 2026. Asif will be permitted to resume training with a team and use the facilities of a club or other ICC Member organisation from 8 October 2026. However, he will only be eligible to return to competitive cricket from 8 December 2026.
In accordance with the ICC Anti-Doping Code, all of Asif’s individual results recorded between 8 September 2025 and the commencement of his provisional suspension on 29 December 2025 have been disqualified. This includes all associated consequences, including the forfeiture of medals, points, prize money and prizes.
Asif Khan's career so far
Asif made his international debut during an ODI against Oman in 2022 and has represented UAE in 38 ODIs, scoring 1270 runs at an average of 38.48 with three hundreds and seven fifties.
Apart from that, he has also played 56 T20Is, scoring 1302 runs at an average of 28.30 with six fifties to his name.
