Pakistan's freefall in Test cricket knows no bounds as they suffered a 3-0 whitewash at the hands of England following an eight-wicket loss in the third and final Test of their three-match series at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Saturday (September 12).

Chasing a modest target of 130, England got off to a horrid beginning. Mohammad Abbas dismissed both English openers, Emilio Gay and Ben Duckett, in a space of five deliveries. However, Pakistan failed to make any further inroads as the hosts seized control of the fixture.

Jordan Cox and skipper Joe Root came together to stitch a 128-run unbeaten stand for the third wicket to take England over the line. Root finished unbeaten on 62, whereas Cox scored 59*.

Pakistan are down at the bottom of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 points table with just two wins and seven losses after nine games. They have a points percentage (PCT) of 16.67. Pakistan are out of the WTC 2025-27 final race. Meanwhile, England are sixth on the ladder with seven victories, eight defeats and a drawn fixture after 16 matches. They have a PCT of 34.44.
