India’s teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, continues his rapid rise in cricketing career as he’s earned a maiden India call-up for the upcoming tour of Ireland and England. The batting prodigy has also been named in the squad for the Asian Games 2026, where India will take part in the men's cricket event to be held in September-October.

India are all set to play a two-match T20I series in Ireland in late June, followed by five T20Is and three ODIs against England in July. Sooryavanshi could well get a golden chance to finally shine at the senior level during the tour and become the youngest ever Indian to play international cricket.

Aged 15, the southpaw will surpass legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar’s record, who made his India debut at the age of 16 years and 205 days against Pakistan in 1989. He's already the youngest ever to be picked in the Indian team.

Sooryavanshi is fresh from a record-breaking Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) campaign, where he became the youngest player ever to win the Orange Cap award for finishing as the leading run scorer of the tournament. The southpaw hammered 776 runs from 16 innings at an average of 48.50 and a record strike rate of 237.30 with one hundred and five fifties to his name.

He also shattered the 14-year-old record of legendary batter Chris Gayle (59) for hitting the most sixes in a single IPL season by clobbering a whopping 72 maximums in the season.

Vaibhav to play for India A next

In his short T20 career so far, the southpaw has already turned heads, scoring 1477 runs from 34 innings at an average of 44.75 and a strike rate of 220.44 with four hundreds and six fifties to his name.

Earlier this year, he played a key role in India’s Under-19 World Cup triumph, slamming a breathtaking 175 (80) in the final against England and was deservedly adjudged Player of the Match in the team's 100-run win. He also finished as the second-highest run scorer of the tournament with 439 runs from seven innings, taking home the Player of the Tournament award.

Meanwhile, after the IPL, Sooryavanshi will be next seen playing for India A in a tri-series against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, beginning on June 9.
