Bangladesh left-arm pacer Fariha Islam Trishna has been ruled out of the Women's Asia Cup 2026 and the following Asian Games with a thigh injury. Trishna has been diagnosed with a Grade II tear in her right thigh following an MRI and is likely to spend four to six weeks on the sidelines.
In her place, uncapped 17-year-old bowling all-rounder Farjana Easmin has been included in the Bangladesh squad. Farjana is a right-arm seamer and has been on the national radar for some time. She even impressed during Bangladesh's recent intra-squad matches.
"I have seen her during her stint with me in the Emerging squad. She has a natural slower ball along with her variations, while she can also contribute with the bat down the order," Nasiruddin Faruque, Bangladesh women's batting coach and the former head coach of the Bangladesh Emerging squad, was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh are placed in Group B alongside Indonesia, Sri Lanka and UAE. They will begin their campaign against Indonesia on August 31, followed by Sri Lanka on September 6 and UAE on September 8.
