Match Overview

India A Women and UAE Women clashed against each other in the second match of the Women's Asia Cup Rising Stars 2026 at the Terdthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok on Friday, February 13. Indian captain Radha Yadav won the toss and elected to bat first.

India had a subpar start to their innings as they lost three crucial wickets of Humaira Kazi, Tejal Hasabnis, and Dinesh Vrinda in the powerplay. The scoreboard read 34/3 as India needed to rebuild the innings. Anushka Sharma and Radha attempted to do it, but the captain fell for 7(10) not too long after. There was not much support from the lower middle order for Anushka as India kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Fortunately, Tanuja Kanwar provided a late flourish as India finished at 130/9 in their 20 overs.

UAE openers - captain Esha Oza and wicketkeeper-batter Theertha Satish - produced a solid start. The batters, knowing the target, calibrated their gameplay in such a way that no undue risks were taken. They ended their powerplay with 33 runs on the board and looked good to dominate the game further. India, however, struck in the eighth over dismissing Satish.

But, a 71-run partnership ensued between Samaira Dharnidharka and Oza which took UAE past the 100-run mark. Despite a couple of wickets subsequently Oza helped her team go over the finish line by seven wickets and four balls remaining.

Oza led by example indeed. The off-spin all-rounder took two wickets in the first innings and ended up with figures of 4-0-30-2. When the 28-year-old came out to bat she held one end up and helped UAE get closer to victory with her measured strokeplay. The veteran completed her 13th half century in the format and negotiated the nervy last few overs to take her team home.

Turning Point

The 71-run second-wicket partnership between Dharnidharka and Oza was the pivoting point in the chase. Although the UAE got off to a good start a wicket in the eighth over could have allowed India to come back in the game. But, this partnership kept on flourishing and slowly took the game away from the Indians. Without the duo's efforts together the match could have swayed either way.
