Australia will be touring Zimbabwe for three ODIs in September. All the three matches will be played at the Harare Sports Club on September 15, 18, and 20. The tour is slated to serve as preparation for the next year's ODI World Cup hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
The Australians last toured the southern African nation for a T20I tri-series involving the home team and Pakistan in 2018 whereas their last tour for ODIs occurred in 2014. Notably, it was also a tri-nation series involving South Africa as well. Meanwhile, Zimbabwe played two games against Australia in the series, losing and winning one each. Remarkably, it was the Chevrons' second-ever ODI victory against the Men in Yellow.

Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) managing director Givemore Makoni made the announcement of the tour today, stating the importance of the series for the development of the senior men's team with the ODI World Cup less than two years away.
"We are delighted to welcome Australia back to Zimbabwe for what promises to be a highly competitive ODI series. Fixtures of this calibre are vital for our growth as a team. With the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027 on the horizon, this tour provides invaluable preparation as we build towards hosting the tournament alongside South Africa and Namibia. It is also a fantastic opportunity for our fans to experience top-level international cricket at home, and we look forward to strong support at Harare Sports Club," said Makoni.
Zimbabwe actively attempting to host more nations
ZC is actively engaging with other cricket boards to host their teams in the next few months. As per ESPNcricinfo, the Zimbabwean board is in talks to host Bangladesh in June and Afghanistan in October. Moreover, it is expecting to convince the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to send the men's team for a one-off Test in 2027 at the Fale Mosi-oa-Tunya International Cricket Stadium at Victoria Falls which is being constructed right now.
Notably, both the nations played a Test match at Trent Bridge last year after 22 years. In all, seven Tests have been played between the two nations with Zimbabwe hosting the last time way back in 1996.
Meanwhile, ZC confirmed the schedule for India's tour yesterday. The Men in Blue will play three T20Is on July 23, 25, and 26 at the Harare Sports Club.
