Just a few weeks ago, Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) campaign in the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) almost seemed over. Six matches into the season, they were rooted to the bottom of the points table, searching desperately for rhythm, confidence and belief.
Fast forward to the second week of May, and the mood in the KKR camp has transformed dramatically. On Friday, May 8, at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, KKR completed a commanding eight-wicket victory against Delhi Capitals (DC), registering their fourth successive win of the season.

The Ajinkya Rahane-led side has finally injected some momentum back into their campaign, peaking at the right time as the race for the playoffs heats up, heading into the final leg of league games.
From languishing at the foot of the IPL 2026 points table, KKR have now climbed to seventh spot with nine points from ten matches.
Rinku Singh's heroics begin KKR's turnaround
It all started with a thrilling four-wicket win against Rajasthan Royals (RR), scripted by spin magicians Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine, along with the team’s crisis-man Rinku Singh’s heroic half-century. KKR again held their nerve in another thrilling fixture against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) that went into the super over.
However, another Rinku Singh masterclass with the bat, along with his agility in the field and the experienced hands of Sunil Narine in the super over, guided KKR to their second win of the season. The back-to-back victories even worked wonders for the team’s confidence, as all the players suddenly found their rhythm again.
Varun Chakravarthy rediscovers his magic
Varun Chakravarthy, who remained wicketless in the first three matches, has been striking regularly and now has ten scalps to his name from eight innings, including two Player of the Match performances against Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). More importantly, he again looks like the bowler batters are hesitant to attack.
His spin partner Sunil Narine has also snaffled crucial wickets in the middle overs, while not letting the batters run away with the game, bowling at an economy of 6.51 in a season dominated by batters.
Young pacers complement spin duo
The young pace trio of Kartik Tyagi (13 wickets), Vaibhav Arora (11 wickets) and Anukul Roy (8 wickets) has added an element of aggression to the overall attack that's complementing Narine and Chakravarthy brilliantly.
The batting department is also clicking in unison as Angkrish Raghuvanshi (269 runs) has been consistent, while Cameron Green (232 runs), Finn Allen (210 runs) and Rinku Singh (237 runs) have found their form back.
Can KKR storm into top four?
With the players gradually finding their feet, KKR look primed to surprise everyone by storming into the top four in no time. For a side that looked all but out of contention not long ago, they have suddenly caught everyone’s attention with their resurgence.
With momentum firmly on their side and belief returning to the dressing room, KKR now look capable of turning their remarkable revival into a genuine playoff charge.
