Peshawar Zalmi beat Hyderabad Kingsmen by five wickets on Sunday, April 3, at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, to be crowned champions of the Pakistan Super League 2026. It was the second title for Zalmi, having previously won the trophy in 2017 after beating Quetta Gladiators in the summit clash.
Notably, all six old teams of PSL have one title each to their names, while Rawalpindiz and Hyderabad Kingsmen, who made their debut in the 2026 season, failed to clinch the trophy in their first attempt. Islamabad United won the inaugural season of the PSL in 2016 and added another trophy to their cabinet in 2018.
Quetta Gladiators also tasted their first success in 2019, after failing in successive finals (2016, 2017). Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans also had their first taste of glory in 2020 and 2021, respectively. However, from 2022 onwards, Lahore Qalandars exerted their dominance like no other team in the history of the competition, winning back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023.
In the middle, Islamabad United also added a third trophy to their cabinet in 2024, inflicting the third successive defeat in the final on Multan Sultans. The following year, Lahore also clinched their third title, becoming the joint-most successful team in PSL history.
