Mukul Choudhary is a right-handed wicketkeeper batter who hails from Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan. Born on August 6, 2004, Mukul shot to prominence with a 27-ball unbeaten 54 that helped Lucknow Super Giants scale 182 on the last ball of the 15th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens.

He struck two fours and smashed as many as seven sixes during his knock at a strike rate of 200 and was adjudged the Player of the Match (POTM).

LSG's head coach Justin Langer has earmarked Mukul for great success and was seen telling him, “In the next four months, I am going to turn you into the scariest No. 6 or 7 batter in India,” in a clip from a training session before Mukul's whirlwind knock that left KKR dazed.

Mukul plays his domestic cricket for Rajasthan. He comes from the same academy where his statemates, Kartik Sharma (playing for CSK in IPL 2026) and Ashok Sharma (playing for GT in IPL 2026), trained. He started his professional cricketing journey as a pacer, but the absence of wicketkeepers during an academy game made him don the gloves, and that was the foundation of his career as a wicketkeeper-batter.

At the time of his IPL debut, Mukul had played four first-class games, five List A matches, and 10 T20 fixtures, scoring 103, 71, and 280 runs respectively. He grabbed hold of the attention of several franchises at the IPL 2026 auction in Abu Dhabi following a remarkable Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26 season.

While Rajasthan lost all of their Super League Group A matches and finished bottom of the table, Mukul dazzled brightly, aggregating 173 runs in five games at an average of 57.66 and a strike rate of 198.85, with the help of two half-centuries and a personal best of 62*.

He made his first-class debut against Chhattisgarh in Jodhpur on January 17, 2023, and played his first List A game against Madhya Pradesh in Ahmedabad on December 24 during the Vijay Hazare Trophy. His T20 debut came during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 season against Jharkhand in New Chandigarh on October 21.

Mukul came into the IPL 2026 auction with a base price of INR 30 lakhs and immediately drew the attention of Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians. Mumbai and Rajasthan battled against each other till the latter made the bid of INR 1 crore, and the former pulled out. But before Rajasthan could have the last laugh, LSG jumped in and showed a keen interest in Mukul. Lucknow made the winning bid of INR 2.60 crore and signed him up for the 2026 season.

Mukul has modelled his game around his role model, MS Dhoni, and is known for dispatching the ball into the stands using the helicopter just like the former India and CSK skipper.
