After a comprehensive win in the series opener, India will take on West Indies in the second T20I on Friday, October 9, at JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi. The Men in Blue registered a comprehensive victory in the opening game, chasing down 172 in 14.4 overs.

Captain Shreyas Iyer led from the front, scoring his maiden century in the format, playing an innings of 102* (43) hitting ten fours and six sixes. Apart from him, the Indian spinners also put up a collective effort to restrict West Indies to 171 in 19.1 overs, with debutant Naman Dhir (3/31) picking three wickets.

Apart from him, Kuldeep Yadav (2/33) and Axar Patel (2/26) also scalped two wickets each. For West Indies, captain Shai Hope (52 off 37) and Sherfane Rutherford (56 off 34) slammed half-centuries but failed to get much support as wickets continued to tumble throughout the innings.

Given their performances on the tour so far, West Indies are likely to come back harder in the second fixture and give a strong fight to the Men in Blue, who will look to move closer to sealing the series.

Players to watch out for in IND vs WI

Sanju Samson (IND):

The opening batter has been through a rough patch in his last four innings, having scored just 29 runs. With a young Vaibhav Sooryavanshi waiting on the bench, Samson will be eager to notch up a big score in the upcoming fixture.

Akeal Hosein (WI):

The left-arm spinner helped his team get off to a good start in the first T20I by dismissing Sanju Samson cheaply. However, he was taken for runs afterwards, finishing with figures of 1/37 in four overs. Hosein will be hungry to add more scalps to his name in the upcoming fixture.
