Match Preview
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) lock horns in the sixth match of IPL 2026 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday, April 2.
Both the teams lost their respective opening match which followed a similar script. KKR put up 220 runs on the board courtesy an all-round batting effort only to be overhauled by MI whose openers helped their team achieve their highest-successful chase ever. Meanwhile, all KKR bowlers went for plenty, registering economy rates of over 10.

SRH also posted a 200+ total on the back of Ishan Kishan's rapid 80, but their bowlers failed to stem the run flow and pick up wickets at crucial moments. What might be of concern for the team management would be the failure of Abhishek Sharma who is going hot and cold these days with teams exploiting his weaknesses.
KKR would be hoping to come good on their home ground. Their limitations - stretched and inexperienced pace bowling attack - would be there going forward and the team needs to find a way out for the bowling attack to click together. SRH also needs its bowling attack to get its act together which is devoid of their full-time skipper Pat Cummins for the next few games as well.

Ishan Kishan (SRH)
Kishan is going through a purple patch. The Jharkhand batter smashed a counterattacking 80 off 38 balls in the first match against RCB which played a major role in them getting to 201. The southpaw was in tremendous form in the T20 World Cup too, scoring 317 runs in nine innings including three fifties to finish as the fourth-highest run-scorer. Eden Gardens generally offers a batting-friendly surface and the 27-year-old is expected to utilise it.

Notably, the left-hander scored a hundred in IPL 2024 showcasing his batting prowess. When it comes to bowling, Narine has scalped 72 wickets in 65 innings at an economy rate of 6.53. Given the record, the 37-year-old is expected to deliver more often than not at this ground.
