Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Delhi Capitals (DC) lock horns in the fifth match of the IPL 2026 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Wednesday, April 1.
LSG failed to qualify for the playoffs last season as they finished seventh with six wins. Despite having a few star players and prominent domestic talent the team could not produce the desired results.
Meanwhile, no drastic changes have been made to the squad for this season and it is very much the same set that LSG would need to rely on. There's enough firepower to propel the team to greater heights and all they need is the various parts to work in tandem. As for team news, except for Wanindu Hasaranga most of the squad is fit and available for selection.
DC missed out on the playoffs too, but not by much as the team finished fifth after losing steam in the middle phase. Just like LSG, the roster comprised big names across nationalities. This season, the franchise has added a couple of exciting prospects as well, namely, Auqib Nabi and Pathum Nissanka.
Given the firepower they possess, a playoff spot is the minimum that the team deserves for itself. As for team news, Mitchell Starc is unavailable for the initial phase as the Australian speedster is recovering from a shoulder and elbow injury.

Pathum Nissanka (DC)
The Sri Lankan opener is expected to make his IPL debut in this game. The right-hander is a reliable batter who is currently in great form. Nissanka played a couple of blinders in the T20 World Cup 2026 which included a whirlwind century against Australia. The pitches in India for the IPL are generally batting-friendly and Nissanka would enjoy the ball coming on to the bat nicely which would aid his strokeplay.
Digvesh Rathi (LSG)
Rathi came into the limelight in his debut season last year with his performances and celebrations. The leg spinner scalped 14 wickets in 13 innings at an average of 30.64 and an economy rate of 8.25. The 26-year-old had a good outing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy too, picking up seven wickets in five innings. The Delhi-born is more than determined this season to produce more impactful performances.
