Match Preview
Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans lock horns in the fourth match of the IPL 2026 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh on Tuesday, March 31.
PBKS had a fantastic season last year, finishing at the top of the points table with nine wins out of 14 matches and ending up as runners-up. The final did not go their way as the team from the north failed to capitalise on the crucial moments of the all-important game. Nevertheless, the team under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer would be aiming to go one step further this time around. Meanwhile, the team management did not make substantial changes to the squad during the off season and the make-up looks balanced.

GT had a very good 2025 season as well, finishing third with the same number of wins as PBKS. The team, however, failed to overcome Mumbai Indians' challenge in the Eliminator and saw their robust campaign come to an end with two steps to go. Notably, their opener Sai Sudharsan had a terrific season and ended up as the Orange Cap winner with 759 runs in 15 innings.
Like PBKS, the GT squad has not undergone major changes but the form of a couple of players would be of grave concern for the management. Jos Buttler and Rashid Khan had terrible campaigns in the T20 World Cup with the latter also being less effective last season as compared to earlier ones. Skipper Shubman Gill would be hoping they regain form as the duo hold immense capability to change the game in a flash.

Players to watch out for in PBKS vs GT
Shubman Gill (GT)
Gill was in decent form in the ODIs against New Zealand in January. The right-hander was not part of the T20 World Cup though and so the 26-year-old must be itching to take the field. Gill has a magnificent record in the IPL, scoring 3866 runs in 115 innings at an average of 39.44 and a strike rate of 138.71. The opening batter has four hundreds in the competition and all of those have come for the Titans.
Marco Jansen (PBKS)
Jansen produced a couple of four-wicket hauls in the recently concluded T20 World Cup but his bowling performances witnessed a sharp turn subsequently. Incidentally, Jansen the batter played a critical innings of 55* in the semi-final against New Zealand and showed once again his reliability as an all-rounder. In the IPL, the lanky South African has 36 wickets to his name in 35 matches and is an important player for the Kings.
